Before Monday's commemoration of his birth, I was convinced that the most serious threat to the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. was the omission of his progressive contributions. I was wrong. As Colbert pointed out two nights ago, the commercial potential of MLK Day was far more diabolical. His examples were both perplexing and sad but they were nothing compared to this one.
