Although I am often appalled at Alan Simpson's angry grandpa routine, it was fairly entertaining watching him set his sights on our nation's preeminent zero-tax lunatic, Grover Norquist.

The "Green Weenie"?

Former Republican Senator Alan Simpson continues to say the darndest things. I suppose someone should have told the President that this what you get whe you appoint a bitter, angry grandpa to co-chair of the National Commission on Fiscal Responsibility and Reform. In response to questions regarding their proposals on CNN's "State of the Union," he said:
"So I'm waiting for the politician to get up and say, there's only one way to do this, you dig into the big four: Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security, and defense," Simpson said. "And anybody giving you anything different than that, you want to walk out the door, stick your finger down your throat and give them the green weenie."
He employs this shtick whenever anyone has the audacity to critique his ideas. It's almost as offensive as his stick-taping defense on the end of every proposal to gut the American social contract to defuse liberal alarm.
