HAT TIP to Louis who stayed up all night trying to get a response from ARS.

It's become very difficult to determine what the truth is coming out of Japan. It would seem that in an effort to limit panic, the Japanese government's management of the ongoing nuclear emergency is having the opposite effect.

SETI DIDN'T Set It Off
Dec 16th, 2010
UPDATE: Keeping track of this "news" is just too good to pass up. Of course, it is likely a hoax.
Earlier, we posted the particularly hard to believe Examiner story about the "approach to the Earth of 3 very large, very fast moving objects." We were pretty sure it sounded too good to be true. Now comes this from Wikileaksufo (ironically, an equally hard to trust or verify source):
"Allow me to point out that anything that was so far away that it wouldn’t arrive for another two years would not be visible at that size. For that matter, there are many things on the moon that are about a kilometer in size that our telescopes can’t make out and the moon is right in our cosmic backyard."
Hat tip to Matt S. for the wiki-link.
