Things You Can't Make Up - Obama Eligibility Edition
Feb 24th, 2012
You know how rational people always question the racial motiviations of the self-declared "birther" movement?
You know how "birthers" usually get really bent out of shape about that?
Not this guy --> Meet Gordon Warren Epperly of Juneau, Alaska.
Not content to merely traffic in absurd and uninformed arguments about PDF layering (which he also does), he has filed suit to challenge Barack Hussein Obama's Presidential eligibility on grounds that are far more honest (and likely more representative) for the "birthers."
Here's the crux of Mr. Epperly's argument...
"As stated above, for an Individual to be a candidate for the office of president of the United States, the candidate must meet the qualifications set forth in the United States Constitution and one of those qualifications is that the Candidate shall be a “natural born citizen” of the United States. As Barack Hussein Obama II is of the “mulatto” race, his status of citizenship is founded upon the Fourteenth Amendment to the United States Constitution. Before the [purported] ratification of the Fourteenth Amendment, the race of “Negro” or “mulatto” had no standing to be citizens of the United States under the United States Constitution.
As the fourteenth amendment is only a grant of “civil rights” and not a grant of “political rights” Barack Hussein Obama II does not have and “political rights” under any provision of the United States Constitution to hold any Public Office of the United States government."
Got that? The sitting President is, like, black. According to Mr. Epperly (PO BOX 34358 Juneau, Alaska 99803), that should preclude him from office.
Also, it's worth noting that Mr. Epperly refers to the historically factual ratification of the 14th Amendment as "purported."
After all, it was never shown on Fox! How do we really know it's not another Commie-Progressive-Nazi-Liberal plot?!?!
Wow.
Just... wow.

Santorum Watch - Will Pander For Food Edition
Jan 24th, 2012
Wow. Seriously. "Wow," is the only response to this vulgar and morbid display of kowtowing to the worst form of delusional extremist which is now, yes, the true base of the GOP.
Rick Santorum is fielding a question in this clip and here's what happens...
Off-screen woman: I never refer to Obama as President Obama because legally he is not (the crowd cheers and Santorum nods and grins) and, well, he constantly says that the Constitution is passé (when?) and he totally ignores it (when?), as you know, he does what he darn well pleases. He is an avowed Muslim. (Bullshit) My, my question is why isn't something being done to get him out of the our government? He has no legal right to be calling himself President.
Santorum's response? NO pushback whatsoever. Nothing. Santorum actually attempts to capitalize upon this nonsense which simply serves to reinforce it.
This psychopath interrupts him to rephrase her ridiculous claim that Obama "says our government is passé."
Santorum, again, does nothing to combat her. Ball-less, nut-less, soul-less tool that he is, he tries to work it for an angle.
His crowd pleasing humdinger? He tells this woman "You will be the first 'Czar' I name."

Birthers Are Back
Jan 22nd, 2012
Beating all previous records for sitting, standing or jumping insanity comes this piece of news; Stephen D. Foster writes:
"And the birthers just refuse to go away. Ever since President Obama embarrassed the hell out of birther king Donald Trump by releasing his long form birth certificate, birthers have been desperate to keep their claims alive and have filed lawsuits across the country to have the President removed from the ballot in 2012. All of these filings have failed, that is until now.
A judge in Atlanta, Georgia has ordered President Obama to show up at a hearing concerning a complaint filed by a citizen of the state who contends that Mr. Obama is not a natural-born citizen and therefore should be removed from the ballot in the Georgia Presidential primary."
Got that? This a real judge in an actual courtroom.
"On Friday, Deputy Chief Judge Michael Malihi denied a motion for dismissal of a subpoena that requires the President to attend. The hearing is set for Thursday."
Something tells me President Obama will not be attending this bullshit freakshow.

Why Isn't Huntsman On Top?
Jan 1st, 2012
Because he is entirely too rational. Via The Portsmouth Patch:
"Jon Huntsman made one thing abundantly clear after a campaign stop in Portsmouth on Friday – he has no doubt that Barack Obama was born in America.
"The president was born in the United States – end of conversation," Huntsman said. He was responding to a question about a comment Mitt Romney's son, Matt, made during an appearance in Concord on Thursday."

The OTHER Obama Derangement Syndrome
May 16th, 2011
by F. Grey Parker
Let's face it. We are living through one of those not-so-great American Eras within which collectively confirmed delusion runs rampant. There are obvious examples. Some folks are allowing their fears to be exploited for a buck. Others are huddling together online and repeating untruths to feel better about themselves. There are also subtler and ultimately more dangerous forms of group-think undermining our progress. So it goes in a time of unrest.

"Birthers" are out, "Deathers" are in...
May 2nd, 2011
I write this reluctantly. That is because it is more painfully stupid than anything I have encountered in my adult life.
It took less than 24 hours after the announcement of the decade for the crap to get deeper. Yes, there is a crazy beyond the "birthers." They are already called the "deathers."
They believe that President Barack Obama is clever enough to get every active member of CENTCOM and JSOC to participate in a vast conspiracy to fake a military operation resulting in the death of Osama Bin Laden but not clever enough to have perpetrated it prior to the 2010 election.
Pardon the interwebphemism, but FACEPALM.

It Should Be The End Of It... But It's Not
April 27th, 2011
Before I proceed, let me just say that I am ashamed to be in the position of having to write about this at all. The relentless and racist pursuit of our President by some of our own citizens, the "birthers," will long be remembered and not kindly.
The Obama Administration has finally caved to the American fringe. Yesterday morning saw the sitting President of the United States ultimately demean himself by going to the White House briefing room to announce formally that he is an American citizen.

Really, Really, Really Reluctant Hat Tip
April 18th, 2011
I think there is so much wrong with Arizona Governor Jan Brewer's Administration, her tactics and her philosophies. That said... Hat tip to Jan Brewer.
From My Fox Phoenix:
"PHOENIX - Arizona Governor Jan Brewer has vetoed two controversial bills passed by both the Arizona Senate and House -- the guns on campus bill and the 'birther' bill.
Guns on Campus Bill: SB 1467
- Would've allowed guns to be carried on public rights of way at public university and community college campuses
- Applies only to rights of way -- not inside classrooms
- University presidents opposed the bill
"This bill was very sloppily written and drafted, and I believe when it affects not only our education system, all the way from K-12 through the university, and we can't even find out a definition of what is a right of way... how are we going to enforce a law like that?" Governor Brewer told us.
'Birther' Bill: HB 2177
- Would've required President Barack Obama and other presidential candidates to prove they are U.S. citizens before their names can appear on the state's ballot
- Arizona would've become the first state to require such proof
- 13 other states have considered similar proposals this year. The proposals were defeated in Arkansas, Connecticut, Maine and Montana
As for her decision to veto this bill, Gov. Brewer said in part: "I never imagined being presented with a bill that could require candidates for President of the greatest and most powerful nation on earth to submit their 'early baptismal or circumcision certificates'… this is a bridge too far. This measure creates significant new problems while failing to do anything constructive for Arizona."

A VERY Reluctant Hat Tip
April 12th, 2011
While catching up on correspondence and confirming links for a few upcoming columns, I happened to have the FOXNews audio up on screen 2. I was about to switch feeds after hearing Sean Hannity introduce mean-spirited bomb-thrower Ann Coulter. I am glad I didn't. I would have missed this. After being asked by Hannity what she thinks of Donald Trump's flirtation with a Presidential run, Ms. Coulter not only engaged in withering criticism of his opportunistic "birtherism," she blew the whole meme out of the water. She also spoke to a particular truth that very, very few liberals are willing to acknowledge; the "birther" smear originated within the increasingly desperate Hilary Clinton camp in 2008. Regardless of her slams in the segment against President Obama, this is pretty good stuff. Can we be done now? I am quite uncomfortable praising Ms. Coulter.

Eric Cantor & Orly Taitz
Dec 29th, 2010
Far Right ideologue and greed monkey Rep. Eric Cantor (R-VA) deserves a good talking to from his party about his lack of judgement.
From Salon:
"Orly Taitz, the dentist-cum-lawyer-cum-Birther leader, yesterday posted on Facebook the above picture of herself with incoming House Majority Leader Eric Cantor.
Taitz put the image in an album titled "12/27/10," suggesting it was taken Monday, though that could not immediately be confirmed."
