Former Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld had a helluva time dealing with al-Jazeera's Abderrahim Foukara this week.
Via Mediaite:
"Foukara asked Rumsfeld to elaborate on how he saw the policies in Iraq, namely, whether he felt "responsible for the killing of innocent Iraqis." The mere formulation of the question resulted in much crosstalk, with Rumsfeld arguing that Foukara’s assertions were "fundamentally false" and asking him whether he "want[s] to yell or do you want to do an interview?" Foukara attempted to rephrase his question: "Do you think the numbers of US troops that you went into Iraq with did absolve you from the responsibility of tens, maybe hundreds of thousands of innocent Iraqis killed by the coalition and those criminals you talked about?" He implored Rumsfeld to "give me a straight answer."

No Torture

As the right raced to make vulgar claims that torture is somehow vindicated in the wake of the death of Osama Bin Laden, the lie was put to rest by none other than former Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld.
From a Newsmax exclusive:
"Asked if harsh interrogation techniques at Guantanamo Bay played a role in obtaining intelligence on bin Laden’s whereabouts, Rumsfeld declares: “First of all, no one was waterboarded at Guantanamo Bay. That’s a myth that’s been perpetrated around the country by critics."
Nope. Torture did not help get Osama Bin Laden. And, by the way, it's still un-American and immoral.

"War Criminal"

When former Vice President and architect of the Iraq debacle Dick Cheney appeared at last year's CPAC, he was greeted with uniform adulation. Not so yesterday at the 2011 gathering. He got at least a little bit of what he deserves. There was a bit of a dust up caused by the Ron Paul wing in attendance. One member of the audience can be heard quite clearly yelling the words "war criminal."
He is one after all.
Cheney's presence appears to have been intended as a crowd whipping surprise. He had been brought in to present former Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld with the confab's annual "Defender of the Constitution Award." Even the John Birch Society is appalled at Rumsfeld's receipt of the award.
