Rand Paul Defends The 1%

Yup. Via the Huffington Post:
"Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) said Sunday that the richest 1 percent of Americans are taxed fairly.
"We hear that over and over again, 'The rich are not paying their fair share,'" Paul said in response to a question from ABC's Christiane Amanpour about whether Congress should raise taxes on the rich to reduce the deficit.
"The top 1 percent, the millionaires in our country, pay on average 29 percent of their income," Paul said. "That's what they pay on average. If the average carpenter who makes $50,000 to $75,000 a year pays between 15 and 18 percent. The top 50 percent of wage earners pay 96 percent of the income tax. The rich and the middle class are paying their fair share."

Of course, a growing majority of Americans completely disagree with Rand's assessment. What's more, this includes a majority of GOP voters.
What to do? What to do? Represent the will of the people? Or, serve your masters, Mr. Senator?

Ahhh, March Madness continues. Our beloved Kentucky Wildcats have made it to the Sweet Sixteen and will play Ohio State Friday night. Hopefully, we will prevail and move forward in our quest for a national championship. If, however, we fail, Kentuckians can take solace in the knowledge that no other state can boast two, that's right two, U.S. Senators even close to being as devoutly ignorant and self-serving as ours. Here's a few quotes to bring you up to speed:
"The single most important thing we want to achieve is for President Obama to be a one-term president." ~Mitch McConnell, Senate Minority Leader, (R-Ky.), October 2010
"Nobody is happy about losing lives but remember these are not draftees, these are full-time professional soldiers." Mitch McConnell December 2007 commenting on the deaths of Americans fighting in Iraq.
"This discussion reminds me, somewhat, of the conversations that were going on after the BP oil spill last year," Mr. McConnell said during an interview on Fox News Sunday. "I don’t think right after a major environmental catastrophe is a very good time to be making American domestic policy." Mitch McConnell March 13, 2011 regarding the catastrophic nuclear reactor meltdowns in Japan.
"We need to get insurance out of the way and let the consumer interact with their doctor the way they did basically before World War II." Rand Paul in an interview with Kentucky public TV on Dec. 2, 2002.

Mr Profitt Wants An Apology?

You read that right. The curb-stomping Rand Paul supporter thinks his victim, Lauren Valle, owes him an apology. She received a concussion. Think about it. That is a brain injury. He wants an apology. In this interview he didn't want his face shown. Here it is. Spread it around. Put it on fliers in his hometown.

Over at the reliably vicious Pagan Temple blog, there is more on the Rand Paul supporter's assault of Lauren Valle:
"if the bitch had ended up getting her ass royally kicked, frankly I couldn't care less, and say so unabashedly."

Notoriously inflammatory birther, Jim Hoft has responded to the assault by Rand supporters on a lone woman liberal activist with gems like these:
He has analysis like this:
"Look for the state-run media to make her into some kind of saint by the end of the day."
Hoft believes in the positive use of fear:
"Let’s hope Code Pink was watching."
Even better, are some of the comments he has allowed considering his history of deleting angry liberal posts:
There is total apologia for violence:
"I see no other way to tell these crazies that they aren’t wanted. They aren’t reasonable so they cannot be handled reasonably. "
There's some random anti-gay hate:
"This is likely the same lesbo fascist who tackled the Pope during christmass mass"
My personal favorite:
"How do we know this isn’t an elaborate MoveOn.org scheme?"
So. Be clear. If you disapprove of thuggishly reactionary behavior in political campaigns, you must be part of the secret-Muslim-commie-fascist scheme. Real Americans love violence against people who disagree with them.

Fascism usually rises from a populist movement. You know, the people?
Apparently, this group of American citizens decided that an anti-Paul activist had gotten too close or something. They threw her to the ground and one supporter is clearly seen stomping on her her head.
Does anyone really want to argue that this is happening in a vacuum? We are wondering if this post from Conservatives 4 Palin might have helped incentivize these thugs.
