Newt Calls Himself "Historian"

Jan 5th, 2012

And then there's this from Buzz Feed:

"Newt Gingrich is already in New Hampshire and kicked off his day with a town hall meeting in Concord. Gingrich fielded a number of questions about drug policy, including one from a man who said that many in the Live Free or Die state don't like the federal government's involvement in stopping weed growing operations. "Would Thomas Jefferson or George Washington be arrested for growing marijuana?" the man asked.

Gingrich responded, "I think Jefferson and George Washington would strongly discourage you from growing marijuana, and their tactics to stop you would be more violent than they would be today."

Gingrich, a historian, did not mention that both Washington and Jefferson grew hemp on their plantations."

Nov 7th, 2011

Quote Of The Day

Aug 29th, 2011

"In the fevered state of our country, no good can ever result from any attempt to set one of these fiery zealots to rights, either in fact or principle. They are determined as to the facts they will believe, and the opinions on which they will act.

Get by them, therefore, as you would by an angry bull; it is not for a man of sense to dispute the road with such an animal."

Quote Of The Day - Independence Day Edition

July 4th, 2011

To all those who would say we should roll back progress to the time of our Founders, I would suggest that they need to read substantially more Thomas Jefferson. Happy Birthday, America. We are still creating our future.

"Half a loaf is better than no bread. If we cannot secure all our rights, let us secure what we can."

Quote Of The Day

June 30th, 2011

"I never submitted the whole system of my opinions to the creed of any party of men whatever in religion, in philosophy, in politics, or in anything else where I was capable of thinking for myself. Such an addiction is the last degradation of a free and moral agent."
