ReplyDeleteJustice in America is expensive. They are not afforded their legal rights. 90% - 95% of all people arrested do not receive trial protection because the government thinks people are not worth either the time or cost of trial rights. Thus, most Americans are 'plea dealt' out of trials.
Be aware that if you ever get arrested and insist on a jury trial, you won't get speedy adjudication. You will sit in a cell until the state's attorneys get around to commencing your trial. Which usually takes months.
This government stopped taking TJ's principal seriously long before and ever after the 1950's Civil Rights Movement.
