The More Things Change...

Nov 21st, 2011

... the more they stay the same.

International Consequences

Nov 21st, 2011

The first signs of real and lasting damage abroad as a result of recent police violence against the Occupy Movement here at home are now being seen.

Via ThinkProgress:

"As a part of renewed crackdowns on nonviolent activists in Egypt, the military-run government injured hundreds and killed several people over the weekend.Renowned Arab journalist Sultan Al Qassemi points out on a Twitter that an Egyptian television anchor on state television justified the crackdown by pointing to the crackdowns against Occupy Wall Street in the United States and similar crackdowns in Germany."

Much the way our own servicemen and women are now more likely to be subject to Geneva Convention violations in the wake of the last administration's use of torture, there are broad and lasting consequences here. The U.S. does, after all, still lead the world in many ways. It is time to ask more loudly, "where the Hell is it leading it?"

Shot With Rubber Bullets For Filming?

Nov 7th, 2011

This video from last week's chaos in Oakland certainly seems to show just that.

Push Forward... Be Beaten Back... Push Forward...

Oct 6th, 2011

This has been the way of things throughout history. We, the motley people, always win... if we do not give up.

"My Little Nightstick's Gonna Get A Workout Tonight"

Oct 6th, 2011

That's a quote. From an NYPD, rank and file cop. It's in the video below. If last night's violence can be blamed on anyone? It's the police. Period. One has to wonder whether or not the increasingly infamous "white shirts" are changing shift assignments to get exactly the kind of thugs they need. Just a theory.

It Would Have Been More Surprising...

Oct 6th, 2011

After this weekend's events on the Brooklyn Bridge (coverage HERE, HERE, HERE, HERE and HERE) further clashes between the NYPD and the rapidly swelling Occupy Wall Street movement were to be expected. As the protests continue to coalesce and draw in more allies, it may get uglier still. It would have been more surprising had there not been some violence last night. Everyone should grateful that not only was it not worse, but also that there were professional media right up front. They took the hits too. Watch how actually "fair and balanced" news coverage can be when journalists behave like... well... journalists.

O'Donnell Breaks Down The Police Riot

Sept 26th, 2011

Once again, the irony that the violence was consistently caused by the "white collar" Commanders and not the "blue collar" rank and file officers is amazing.

The MSM Starts To Pay Attention

Spet 25th, 2011
If anyone can identify officers who have used violence or excessive force during Occupy Wall Street, contact the New York ACLU at 212-607-3300

The coverage is biased, but at least it's something.
