GOP Vs New Start

The rabid GOP 2012 Presidential hopefuls are all lining up against The New Start Treaty. Although their more public pronouncements have to do with the stipulation that it will "undermine missile defense," this is much darker. 

The hawks and the Neo-Cons want to use nukes in the event of almost any non-conventional attack. They say the provisions in the treaty that forbid this with non-nuclear bad actors are a sign of weakness. This should give most sane people relief that none of them is currently in charge.

Let's say, for the sake of argument, that a Tokyo style subway gas attack was committed in New York City. A Gingrich or Palin Presidency, we are to believe, would use thermonuclear weapons against any alleged state sponsor of such an attack. Their absolute disregard for the principle of proportionality should preclude them from holding any office higher than dog catcher.
