Take a listen to the man in line to head The House Energy and Commerce Committee. Rep. John Shimkus (R-IL) has stated repeatedly that science regarding potential sea rise risks as a consequence of global warming should be discounted because God promised Noah the would not be another great deluge. Really. You can't make this stuff up. The position was previously expected to be filled by Rep. Joe Barton (R-TX) who famously apologized to BP following this year's devastating Gulf oil spill and called the escrow fun they established to counter their damage as a "shakedown."
There is not yet any word on how Rep. Shimkus has reconciled the discovery that the sky is not in fact a solid floodgate as described in the Old Testament.
