He has now signed onto the latest Big Lie of the American right.
He has endorsed the Beckian delusion that a new Grand Caliphate could possibly ascend successfully across the planet.
As one of the principal architects of the longest, the 2nd most expensive and the most unnecessary war in the in the history of our country, he said in early November of 2002 that it would take "Five days or five weeks or five months, but it certainly isn't going to last any longer than that."
In the face of Iraqi rage amidst the utter chaos resulting from his policies and the killing and maiming of thousands of Iraqi women and children, he said he was "surprised" and did not "expect" it.
Donald Rumsfeld is a notoriously vicious and stupid liar. Most importantly, he has proven to be his generation's most incompetent analyst.
The whole of his career since has been spent excusing himself due to an inability to predict events geo-politically.
He has spent the last seven years saying he never saw any of it coming.
He is not to be listened to now.
He is not to be trusted.
Ever.
Grey, I wish my health were better. I'd "Halbestram" Rumsfeld's sorry ass. Know anybody who'd like an assignment?
ReplyDelete“When McNamara published his first book—filled with those distortions of history—Halberstam, at his own expense, set out on a journey following McNamara on his book tour around America as a one-man truth squad.
“McNamara abandoned the tour.”

Man, do I ever wish I could afford to follow him. I'de be proud to add another inch to my FBI file that way. LOL.
ReplyDeleteRumsfeld carries his own guilt around for all to hear, as in these choice bits from a recent book talk he gave, reprinted from David Swanson's Journal:
ReplyDelete"War lies? Does anybody really give a rat's ass now? You know what? You know what? They do. They do because war lies are actually cool now. We began the invasion of Iraq in October 2001, but the invasion of Iraq paid off...
"You think we lie to you for the good of the nation. That's not how it works. We lie to ourselves for the good of our careers, and the marketplace of ideas makes that good for the nation. Or not. That's a known unknown.
"Let me just leave you with this, you embarrassing facsimiles of sentient animals. Let me provide you, outside of your comprehension, a little demonstration of your inability to be awakened by a five alarm fire in your jock straps. Are you ready? Here it goes. We're making progress in Afghanistan..."
This man is proud to have put 5,000 Americans to death by lies, and should be executed by waterboarding.
