Olbermann Behind The Scenes

Nov 7th, 2010
UPDATE 9:11pm 11/07/2010: Olbermann returning to Countdown.

Sign the petition to reinstate Keith. Please check out other stories here at The Hand
Just in this morning. From Politico's Mike Allen:
"BEHIND THE CURTAIN: Network sources tell Playbook that Keith Olbermann was suspended because he refused to deliver an on-camera mea culpa, which would have allowed him to continue anchoring “Countdown.” Olbermann told his bosses he didn't know he was barred from making campaign contributions, although he is resisting saying that publicly. Olbermann may not hold as many cards as he thinks. He makes $7 million a year and MSNBC's prime time is not as dependent on him as it was before the addition of Rachel Maddow and Lawrence O'Donnell, who make considerably less. "

Here's the petition to reinstate Keith.

  1. Guess what? When I'm NOT watching MSNBC because Keith Olbermann is not on. . . I won't be watching Rachel Maddow (who owes her spot on MSNBC to Keith but has chosen to kiss MSNBC ass), or Lawrence O'Donnell. But I WILL be buying Keith's book & calling all the MSNBC sponsors to tell them to "Thank" Phil Griffin, MSNBC President for being boycotted!

  2. Put Keith back on the air. This is the biggest mistake for your network.. Keith is a good man.. For you to make it a rule that someone has to get YOUR permission to give to a political candidate ... Is wrong. Who are YOU to tell anyone Yes or No to a legal amount donation....?????? That doesn't make sense at all... Keith is responsible along with the other anchors at night to getting healthcare for thousands of Poor Americans.. What you did was wrong...I will NOT watch your network til he is back on the air. I have been a faithful watcher ...For MANY years.

  3. I watch MSNBC because of Keith Olbermann. Mr. Olbermann's suspension just goes to show you that MSNBC does not support progressive views. I wouldn't be surprised if it replaced Mr. Olbermann's program with more prison documentaries which are so trashy. What do they contribute? NOTHING!

  4. Suggestion to MSNBC executives: Have lawyers read first amendment of US Constitution.

  5. The ONLY place on TV to stay updated on the FACTS of progressive issues and have the lies of the right wing brought out in the open is on MSNBC and Keith Olbermann was the leader in that movement. Is this the next step of the corporations to make sure that voice is silenced. The false equivalency facade, the overwhelming power of the conservative/corporate merger--the siege goes on.

  6. Keith Olbermann has a constitutional right to FREE SPEECH and no one, MSNBC or not, should censor him. The Supreme Court said Corporations are humans and therefore entitled to undisclosed and unlimited cash donations (free speech)but Mr. Olbermann can not? I guess more prison episodes are worth more to msnbc than insightful progressive driving eyeballs to their network. Msnbc should leave Mr. Olbermann alone. He is a light atop a mountain of darkness.

  7. Good bye MSNBC until Keith is reinstated without any strings. Period!

  8. Is there any other channel somewhere that will take Keith, Rachel, Lawrence, Cris? I will not watch MSNBC until Keith is back which means I will not buy any products from those sponsors.
How long can Griffin go without Keith?

  9. Phil Griffin;
Here's the deal, pal: You bring back Keith Olberman Monday night. I will then re-program my computer to 'recognize' the MSNBC website. Oh, and Keith does NO MEA CULPAS, got that, Phil?
It would show REAL CLASS for you to apologize to Keith on-air, so I won't expect that to happen.
And, for good measure, toss that rule. If Scarborough doesn't obey it then nobody else should have to.
    Cheerio!
